Participation(s) hosts a conversation about uses and instances of participatory media, citizen media, and social software. Take part!
The focus is on what you can DO with different kinds of media, and what you BECOME by doing it - on the action and fact of different forms of participation.
What is puzzling is that we have such a vague understanding of what it means to participate - does it entail interactivity? if so, in real time? what is the relation between the participant and the something she participates in? does one have to want to before one can be said to participate? does one have to accomplish something before one has participated?
Examples are taken from media organizations, grassroots media, social and political movements. Heck, examples are taken whereever they pop up.
